PC Trained Player of the Week (2)
The Broncos of Boyd High School have only been in existence since 2006 but their athletic success, both by individualathletes and teams, is very rich. The school boasts two athletic state championships and star athletes such as Jeff Fuller, James Driskell, Brian Driskell, and Jonovan Griffin, who litter the record books with games and seasons to remember. Last Saturday against the Coppell Cowboys, current running back Dedrick Scrivens added his name to the record book as he shredded the Cowboy defense time and time again racking up 371 yards on the ground to go along with 4 TDs. The Coppell Cowboys are known for great defensive play as they have been a powerhouse in the metroplex for the better part of a decade, yards and touchdowns against them are earned not given. Scrivens earned his yards and his name in the record book as the Cowboys had no answer for the 5’9 185 pound senior. As the teams traded scores throughout the majority of the first 3 quarters it was clear that Dedrick would have no trouble imposing his will. However after a 4th and goal line stand by the Bronco defense, Scrivens put an exclamation point on his record setting night and the Cowboys defense by taking a hand off 89 yards down to the Coppell 10 yard line setting up himself for the go ahead score the following play. When the dust settled, the night saw Scrivens finish with 39 carries for 371 yards and all of the Broncos 4 scores as well as, maybe equally important, a Boyd Bronco win. During Performance Course this past summer, Dedrick was an excellent leader in the weight room. Site Coordinator Derrick Catlett reports that the senior dropped his 40 time by 2 tenths and gained 1.5 inches on his vertical in addition to adding 5 pounds of muscle. He was also selected by his teammates and coaches as a leader of the team showing his commitment to not only himself but to the Bronco program. For his efforts, Dedrick Scrivens is the Performance Course Player of the Week. Congrats Dedrick!
