PC trained Player of the Week (1)
For the Aledo Bearcats, being in the spotlight is nothing new. Since 2009 the Bearcats have named claim to 4 state titles which all included packed houses and heavily hyped match ups. Looking to defend their most recent title, 2013, Aledo’s season opener was no different as all eyes were on one of the most anticipated matchups of the year as the class 5A number one ranked Bearcats traveled to Cedar Park to face off against the second ranked Timberwolves. Cedar Park showed up as advertised as they jumped out to an early 10-0 lead. As the defense started to step up so did the play of senior quarterback Luke Bishop. Bishop connected for 3 scores on the night including the game winner late in the 4th quarter. Big play capabilities run deep in the Bishop family as Luke’s predecessor is also his 2 time state championship winning quarterback brother, Matthew. Despite throwing a pair of touchdowns, late in the 4th quarter Bishop and the Bearcats found themselves down yet again. At Performance Course, we pride ourselves in the art of preparing the body and the mind to perform in high pressure situations. Enter exhibit A, Bishop, as he calmly and surgically marched Aledo down the field to eventually throw the game winning score to Jess Anders with just over 1 minute to go in the game. This victory not only was a statement game but also extended the Bearcats winning streak to 17 games. This summer at PC, Luke prepared at a different level than ever before. He showed his leadership abilities and his relentless desire to be the best by having his “best summer he has ever had” according to Aledo site coordinator and strength coach extraordinaire Kirk Byerly. Hard work certainly pays off! For his efforts, Luke Bishop is the Performance Course Player of the Week. Congrats Luke!
